Thrombophlebitis

"Thrombo" refers to a blood clot, and phlebitis is the term used for inflammation in a vein, usually in one of your legs. Thrombophlebitis may occur in a superficial vein or, more dangerously, in a blood vessel deep within your body. Mesothelioma patients are known to be especially vulnerable—at almost double the rate of other cancer patients—to blood clots of this type.

The greatest danger with blood clots is that they may break loose and travel to block vital blood flow to the lungs or brain.
