Choosing A Doctor: Mesothelioma Doctors & Asbestos Doctors

Choosing a doctor

When you’ve received a mesothelioma diagnosis, you and your loved ones understandably may feel frightened and overwhelmed. The most important first step you can take is choosing a doctor who is familiar with the disease. Because the disease is rare and because it is so deadly, you will face some difficult choices in living with mesothelioma. You will be relying on your doctor to be both your medical advisor and a source of a certain amount of emotional support.

Doctor for asbestos-induced malignant mesothelioma
It can be a challenging process to find the right doctor for your asbestos-induced malignant mesothelioma. If you live anywhere near one of the centers of excellence that specialize in dealing with patients with mesothelioma, your chances are much better of choosing a doctor who studies the latest research and who understands the physical and emotional challenges you face as you go through this devastating disease.

Mesothelioma doctor
When choosing your care team, you will probably be looking to find several types of doctors, including doctors who specialize in oncology, thoracic surgery, and pulmonology.

Whomever you select, a good mesothelioma doctor will be aware of the latest clinical trials for drugs and other treatments. He or she can advise you on the advisability of aggressive treatment and or the wisdom of using complementary and alternative treatments.

To help you in the critical step of choosing a doctor, we have included below a listing of some of the mesothelioma specialists in this country. The list is randomly organized and is not an endorsement or a recommendation.
